Discover Tenerife
Tenerife, the largest of Spain's Canary Islands, is renowned for its magnificent landscapes and crystal-clear waters, making it a prime location for freediving enthusiasts. I took a freediving course with Abnea Academy West to learn the basics.
Key Exercises:
- Diaphragmatic Breathing: We spent some time practicing diaphragmatic breathing. This technique is essential for freedivers, as it helps increase lung capacity and oxygen efficiency.
- Diving Depths: We then practiced diving on a single breath, starting at a depth of 5 meters and gradually progressing to 7 meters.
- Morning Breathing Exercises: The instructor showed us how to practice with some morning breathing exercises that could significantly boost breath holds.
